The Opportunity:

Hunter New England LHD is seeking experienced Orthopaedic Surgery Consultants / VMOs to provide locum support across its regional hospitals.
 
You'll join an established surgical roster with theatre, ED consults, and emergency call responsibilities, depending on the site and shift.
 
These roles are ideal for specialists seeking flexibility, autonomy, and the ability to deliver direct, hands-on care in a supported, regional setting.
 
Clinical Environment – What You’ll Gain:

• Lead and perform a range of procedures including fracture management, trauma surgery, joint work, and orthopaedic emergencies
• Work within modern operating suites with skilled perioperative and anaesthetics teams
• Benefit from registrar and junior medical officer support, allowing focused surgical practice and reduced on-call pressure
• Contribute to ED and inpatient consults, enabling continuity of care and clinical variety
• Ideal for consultants who value autonomy, procedural volume, and regional impact

Eligibility Criteria:

• AHPRA Specialist Registration
• FRACS (Orthopaedic Surgery) or equivalent
• Comfortable managing acute presentations and trauma independently
• NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
• Willingness to complete onboarding and credentialing
