The Opportunity:
 
Swan Hill District Health is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to take on in-charge responsibilities in their Emergency Department. This locum opportunity offers strong daily rates and a respected leadership role within a regional ED team.
 
You’ll work closely with nursing and support staff, lead clinical decision-making, and ensure safe and effective emergency care across a broad patient mix.
 
Clinical Responsibilities:

• Oversee emergency presentations and departmental flow
• Lead clinical escalation and supervise junior medical staff
• Manage resuscitations, trauma presentations, and acute deterioration
• Attend to emergency procedures and provide senior-level support to the ED

 
Eligibility Criteria:

• AHPRA General or Specialist Registration
• Demonstrated experience working in-charge in Emergency settings
• Current ALS certification
• Neonatal resuscitation competency essential
• FRACGP, FACRRM, or FACEM preferred but not required for senior non-VR doctors with relevant ED experience
