The Opportunity:

Hunter New England LHD is seeking a PGY3+ Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) to support general medical teams across regional hospitals.
 
You’ll assist with ward rounds, admissions, discharge planning, and patient reviews, under the guidance of Registrars and Consultants.
 
Shifts may include day or after-hours, with reliable escalation and supervision pathways in place.
 
Clinical Environment:

• Work in well-structured medical wards alongside registrars, consultants, and experienced nursing staff – ensuring collaborative learning and safe decision-making
• Manage a broad mix of acute and chronic presentations, enhancing your generalist capabilities
• Gain exposure to ward rounds, consults, discharge summaries, and MET calls – perfect for preparing for basic or advanced physician training
• Enjoy structured supervision, making this role ideal for SRMOs progressing in general medicine or internal medicine pathways
• Experience a supportive rural hospital culture, where your contributions are valued and recognised

 
Eligibility Criteria:

• AHPRA General Registration
• PGY3+ with recent general medicine or inpatient experience
• NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
• Willingness to complete onboarding and e-learning
