About the role You will manage your own clients and files from initial instructions through to negotiation, drafting, court preparation, advocacy and resolution across VCAT and the Victorian courts.
- Advise on property disputes, leases, business structures and compliance
- Handle employment issues, terms of trade and contractual obligations
- Deliver commercial and dispute resolution advice
- Draft contracts, letters of demand, court documents and correspondence
- Prepare and run applications in VCAT, the Magistrates' Court, County Court and Supreme Court
- Undertake advocacy where appropriate and brief barristers when required
- Maintain strong client communication and efficient file management
- Contribute to financial targets and service standards
What you'll bring You will be a commercially aware lawyer with 3+ years post-admission experience, strong civil procedure knowledge and the confidence to manage matters with independence and care.
- Victorian admission preferred, with interstate admissions considered
- Solid grounding in commercial law, dispute resolution and civil procedure
- Confidence managing your own files, clients and court appearances
- Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills
- Reliability, sound judgement and practical client focus
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- Experience with Smokeball or similar practice management software is a plus
