About the Position:

Our client is looking for a Senior Family Lawyer (Special Counsel/Partner level) to take ownership of a significant stream of family law work and help shape the next stage of the practice.

You’ll manage complex matters end-to-end and provide leadership across the team, including mentoring, supervising and contributing to strategy on higher-risk files. The work is a mix of advisory, negotiation and litigation, with scope to deepen your strengths (or build new ones) across:

• High-value property settlements (including business structures, trusts and complex asset pools)
• Parenting matters (relocations, contraventions, recovery, risk issues)
• Domestic and family violence matters and urgent applications
• Financial agreements (pre/post/separation) and consent order pathways
• Mediation preparation, settlement conferences and court advocacy

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in family law private practice
• Strong technical capability across parenting and property matters
• Demonstrated experience running litigation files (FMC/FCFCOA) and negotiations
• Confidence mentoring lawyers and contributing to a positive team culture
• Commercial mindset (client care, file strategy, and practice growth)
• Australian practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
