Employment Lawyer - Workplace Investigations role advising employers and delivering robust investigation reports.

Job Description

Our client is a specialist employment law and workplace investigations practice that advises organisations across Australia. Their work spans investigations, employment law advisory, training and dispute resolution, with a strong focus on delivering practical, procedurally fair outcomes that stand up to scrutiny.

About the team:

You’ll be part of a dedicated employment and investigations group with genuine depth across seniority levels (Directors/Principals through to Executive Counsel and Senior Associates), so you’re never working in isolation on high-risk or sensitive matters.

The team has an established national footprint (with offices in major CBD locations) and a strong “specialist boutique” feel: responsive, collaborative, and built for quality.
Importantly, this role is designed to suit either:
  • Permanent part-time (minimum 3 days per week), or
  • Permanent full-time
The team structure supports flexibility while maintaining consistency on files, with the ability to lean on peers for resourcing, second interviews, and quality assurance when matters peak.

About the position:

Our client is looking for an Employment Lawyer to join our clients’ team and take carriage of workplace investigations from scoping through to final report delivery.
You’ll manage matters such as:
  • Bullying, harassment and sexual harassment investigations
  • Discrimination and equal opportunity complaints
  • Misconduct, code of conduct breaches, conflicts of interest and integrity issues
  • Complex stakeholder matters (including senior employees and sensitive allegations)
  • Employer-side advisory input where needed to support risk-managed outcomes
This is a standout opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys fact-finding, interviewing, and producing clear, evidence-based written findings — without being tied to heavy litigation workflows.

Our client offers:
  • Permanent part-time (3+ days) or permanent full-time employment
  • A genuinely specialist investigations practice with varied, meaningful matters
  • Support from a sizeable team of experienced workplace lawyers and investigators
  • Flexible working arrangements aligned to sustainable performance
  • The chance to build a strong personal brand in investigations and employer advisory work
Key requirements:
  • Admitted in Australia with a current practising certificate
  • Experience in workplace investigations and/or employment & industrial relations
  • Confident interviewing skills and calm stakeholder management
  • Strong report writing and drafting (structured, defensible reasoning)
  • Sound understanding of procedural fairness and confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines (with strong organisation
