Job Description

Employment Lawyer | 2-4 PQE | Brisbane CBD. Join a boutique corporate and commercial law firm with a strong employment law practice, acting primarily for employees while also advising employer clients on compliance, restructure and employment risk.

Salary and Features of this Position:

This is a role for an employment lawyer who wants responsibility without being left on their own. You will get meaningful matter carriage, direct mentoring from a senior employment lawyer, and a practice that values quality of advice over high-volume churn.

Our client is a boutique corporate and commercial law firm based in Brisbane CBD with offices across multiple Australian states. The employment law team acts for a diverse client base spanning individual professionals, executives, and corporate clients across a wide range of industries. The practice is known for its technical quality, its depth of Fair Work Act expertise, and a genuinely collaborative team culture.

About the role

You will report directly to a senior employment lawyer and work across a broad mix of employee-side and employer-side employment law matters, with the primary focus on employee-side work.
  • Unfair dismissal applications before the Fair Work Commission
  • General protections claims under Part 3-1 of the Fair Work Act
  • Discrimination and harassment complaints in federal and state jurisdictions
  • Breach of contract and wrongful dismissal advice
  • Redundancy entitlements and separation negotiations
  • Advice on enterprise agreements and individual flexibility arrangements
  • Employment contract drafting and review
  • Workplace investigation advice and report review
  • Enterprise bargaining strategy and process advice
  • Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards compliance advice
  • Managing unfair dismissal and general protections responses
What you'll bring
  • 2-4 years PQE in employment law, workplace relations or industrial law
  • Employee-side experience preferred
  • Dual employee/employer experience strongly valued
  • Working knowledge of the Fair Work Commission process and Fair Work Act framework
  • Experience running unfair dismissal or general protections matters, or significant supervised exposure
  • Strong drafting and written communication skills
  • Empathy, professionalism and sound client relationship skills
  • Queensland admission or eligibility for admission
