About the position:

Our client is looking for a passionate and technically strong Associate (3–5 years PAE) to join their high-performing Health Law team in Newcastle.
This is a rare opportunity to be immersed in a stimulating mix of civil litigation, medical negligence defence, coronial inquests, and regulatory/disciplinary matters. Working closely with two of the firm’s Principals, you’ll be given significant responsibility and direct access to high-calibre files involving medical practitioners and allied health professionals.

You will play a key role in all stages of litigation and investigations—analysing complex medical evidence, preparing legal advice and court documentation, and engaging with clients directly. The team is collegiate and supportive, offering both autonomy and one-on-one mentorship to fast-track your development.

Key Requirements:
  • 3–5 years post-admission experience in civil litigation or personal injury law
  • Exposure to, or strong interest in, medical negligence or health regulatory matters
  • Strong drafting, legal research and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience interpreting and analysing medical evidence is highly regarded
  • A client-focused mindset with the ability to offer strategic legal advice
