About the Firm: My client is a Sydney CBD firm with a well-regarded and growing Intellectual Property practice.
Known for sophisticated work across franchise, commercial, and IP law, the firm advises high-growth Australian businesses, national franchise networks, and established corporations who need sharp IP advice to protect and monetise their intangible assets.
The IP group works across the full spectrum — trademark prosecution and portfolio management, licensing and commercialisation, brand enforcement, and transactional IP — and the volume and complexity of that work is increasing. Partners are accessible, the structure is flat, and business development is actively supported.
The Opportunity: This position is for a senior IP practitioner — at special counsel, or partner level — to join and grow the IP group. You will bring an established client base and take it further on a platform that gives you the infrastructure, team, and existing client pipeline to do so.
You will advise across the full spectrum of IP matters: trademark searching, prosecution and registration, portfolio management and brand protection strategies, licensing and commercialisation agreements, IP due diligence in M&A transactions, trade secret and confidential information advice, IP enforcement, and dispute resolution. You will work directly with the firm's IP and commercial partners and have access to the broader client base across franchising, corporate advisory, and commercial property.
The defining requirement is a transportable practice. You bring the clients; Baybridge provides the platform.
Requirements • Admitted solicitor with 8+ years PAE in intellectual property law
• Demonstrable transportable practice with client relationships ready to move
• Strong background in trademark prosecution, brand protection, and portfolio management
• Experience in IP licensing, commercialisation, and M&A due diligence (desirable)
• Exposure to IP enforcement and dispute resolution
• Registered Trademarks Attorney accreditation advantageous, not essential
• Commercial, pragmatic approach — clear advice to business clients
