Job Description

About:

A high-growth firm in Melbourne is looking to establish a branch in Canberra, ACT and seeks the experience and commercial acumen of a Senior Solicitor to help them establish and grow their practice.

You’ll be working predominantly at the Melbourne office, but be expected to travel to the Canberra Office once a month. Travel and accommodation will be covered by the firm

This role will also provide the opportunity to take on a leadership role working closely with the Principle and providing support to the Canberra Office

Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 Years PQE practising as an Australian Solicitor with experience in in Civil Litigation
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in Business Development & readily ability to manage client expectations 
  • Ability to prioritise and manage many files and project deadlines simultaneously.
  • Willing to occasionally travel interstate to help build the practice (travel costs paid for)
Responsibilities:
  • 5-6 billable hours per day
  • Liaise with clients, solicitors and barristers, along with Melbourne office staff to help grow the Canberra branch.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships and expectations through regular and effective communication.
  • Prepare court documents, correspondence, and briefs to barristers
  • Arrange meetings and manage your case files with attention to detail
  • Handle matters from start to finish autonomously
  • Provide tailored advice to clients to ensure an optimal outcome.
  • Attend networking events to represent the new branch
  • Liaising with Psychological counsellors in the team
