Job Description

Great opportunity for an intermediate level commercial litigation and general commercial lawyer

Over the years, this firm has attracted a number of lawyers from larger national and top tier firms that are seeking a less bureaucratic and experientially rewarding working environment across a variety of areas of the law.

They offer the opportunity to work on complex commercial litigation matters where you will have the opportunity to appear in the Local Court to Supreme and Federal Court or Tribunals yourself as well as brief Barristers and work with them directly. 

The Role

We require someone with 2+ years commercial litigation experience and the initiative and drive to want to learn and excel from the role. The firm has a well-balanced focus across the areas of;
  • General commercial and large complex litigation and dispute resolution
  • Litigation over all jurisdictions including Local, District and Supreme Court, Federal Courts and Tribunals
  • Commercial and insolvency law
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Debt recovery.

The Role

Working closely with senior lawyers, you will assist and progressively take carriage of a range of insolvency and commercial litigation matters, including:
  • Preparing pleadings, evidence and court documents
  • Drafting submissions and correspondence
  • Day-to-day management of matters under supervision
  • Court and tribunal appearances (as appropriate for level)
  • Drafting advice, contracts, deeds and insolvency-related documentation
  • Contributing to dispute strategy, negotiations and outcomes
Matters may include insolvency disputes and recovery proceedings, Corporations Act-related claims, contested litigation, and strategically important matters across multiple jurisdictions.

About You Our client is looking for someone with:
  • 2–5 years’ post-admission experience in insolvency and/or commercial litigation
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills
  • Confidence engaging with stakeholders and managing competing priorities
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to work independently
  • A clear interest in building a long-term career in insolvency and commercial litigation
(Backgrounds from disputes teams with insolvency exposure are encouraged.)
