Our client is a specialist commercial firm based in Sydney, with a strong focus on commercial property, retail and commercial leasing, franchising and corporate advisory. They act for landlords, tenants, franchisors and national brands, providing end-to-end advice on leasing, acquisitions and property compliance. This is a Medium sized law firm with 8 partners and over 40 staff.

About the position:

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Associate or Special Counsel to take a lead role in a very busy Retail and Commercial Leasing practice.
You will:

• Manage a demanding, high-volume portfolio of retail and commercial leases
• Run complex leasing matters end-to-end – from agreed terms to execution and completion
• Act for both landlords and tenants, including national retailers, franchisors and multi-site operators
• Draft, review and negotiate agreements for lease, leases, incentive deeds, licences, variations and assignments
• Handle leasing components of business and franchise sales, including due diligence and consents
• Work directly with key client decision-makers who expect rapid, clear and commercial advice
• Help implement processes and efficiencies to keep a large volume of files moving smoothly

Key Requirements:

• Admitted as a Solicitor in NSW with a current practising certificate
• Circa 5–12+ years’ PAE in commercial property / real estate (Senior Associate or Special Counsel level)
• Strong experience across:
  
  • Commercial and retail leasing
  • Property acquisitions and disposals
  • Property due diligence for business or share sales
• Ability to manage your own files with appropriate supervision and delegate effectively to juniors
• Commercial mindset – comfortable advising growing businesses, franchisors and national brands
• Confident communicator who enjoys direct client contact and working in a close-knit team
