Job Description

To the lovely Psychologists of Newcastle, if you want to feel valued & supported whilst being treated as an adult, then this might just be of interest to you!

Here's The Headlines:
  • Hourly rate $70–$90 (salaried role) depending on experience (above market rate)
  • Start casual 1 day/week now (Friday room ready) and build at your pace
  • Option to move into PT/FT from Jan 2026 as new rooms come available
  • Choose your focus: trauma, forensics, neurodivergence (kids & adults), couples, groups
  • Sensory room in development, onsite parking, near transport, shops & cafés
  • Support you can feel: monthly team & psych meetings, quarterly PD (AHPRA-compliant), regular socials
  • Healthy workload: No direct KPIs, no need to do more than 5/6 billable hours (includes non-client tasks), zero burnout ethos
This is a well-established, multidisciplinary clinic with a genuinely kind, collaborative culture. You’ll join OTs (MH-trained), Behaviour Support Practitioners, Provisional Psychs, Speechies and a Dietitian who all believe trauma-informed and neuro-affirming care should be the norm, not the exception.

The team is moving into a fresh, purpose-built space soon meaning more rooms, more comfort, more you. Bring your passions and the team will help shape a caseload that lights you up, whether that’s paediatrics, adult ND support, relationship work, group programs or a mix.

Your Duties will Include
  • Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed psychological care across children, adolescents, adults and couples.
  • Conduct assessments, therapy and clear reporting, working toward ~5-6 billable hours/day with complete flexibility.
  • Collaborate closely with a warm, multidisciplinary team while enjoying autonomy over your diary and practice.
  • Work out of a modern clinic near Merewether, close to public transport, cafés and easy parking.
Requirements/ Skills
  • Proven experience in private practice (multidisciplinary exposure welcomed).
  • Confidence working with children is highly regarded (paeds caseload available but not essential).
  • AHPRA registration as a General Psychologist (fully registered).
  • Full Australian Work Rights
