The Opportunity:

Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) is seeking experienced Consultants, Staff Specialists or VMOs in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to provide locum cover across various hospitals within the district.
 
Shifts may include delivery suite, emergency obstetric response, elective surgery, and outpatient clinics.
 
You’ll play a key role in providing safe and comprehensive care to women across antenatal, intrapartum, and gynaecological pathways, often in rural and regional environments where your expertise makes a significant impact.
 
Clinical Environment:

• Modern maternity units with supportive, well-trained midwifery and nursing teams, ensuring you’re never working alone in high-pressure situations
• Varied shift types including elective gynaecology theatre, birth suite management, and clinics — giving you a balanced clinical load
• Collaborative care model involving GP-obstetricians, anaesthetics, and paediatrics allows for streamlined, multi-disciplinary decision-making
• Autonomy and scope to manage a range of presentations from low-risk to complex, enhancing both confidence and capability
• Opportunities for procedural and leadership involvement while supporting rural communities

Eligibility Criteria:

• AHPRA Specialist Registration
• FRANZCOG or equivalent
• NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
• Willingness to complete onboarding and hospital credentialing
