Job Description

Our client is a boutique corporate and commercial law firm headquartered in Brisbane CBD, with offices across multiple Australian states. The firm advises a sophisticated client base spanning developers, contractors, project managers, infrastructure owners, and high-net-worth individuals.

Positioned as a genuine alternative to the larger commercial firms, they deliver top-tier advice at rates that reflect their lean, high-quality team model. Construction and infrastructure is one of the firm's cornerstone practice areas, with a strong pipeline of active project mandates across Queensland and beyond.

Salary and Features of the position:

This is a strong move for a junior construction lawyer who wants technical growth, commercial pressure, client exposure and support from senior practitioners who are close to the work.
  • $115,000–$145,000 package
  • Construction and infrastructure as a cornerstone practice area
  • Sophisticated client base across developers, contractors, project managers, infrastructure owners and high-net-worth individuals
  • Quality advice model, not a large-firm hierarchy
  • Brisbane CBD location with flexibility built into the working model
  • Collaborative, collegiate culture with real responsibility
About the role

You will work across fast-moving construction and infrastructure mandates where clients need clear, commercially grounded advice during live project delivery, negotiations and disputes.
  • Drafting, reviewing and advising on head contracts and subcontracts, including AS 4000, AS 2124, NEC and bespoke forms
  • Advising contractors, subcontractors and developers on contract variations
  • Advising on claims for extensions of time, delay and disruption issues
  • Security of payment claims and adjudication strategy under BIFA/BCIPA
  • Defects disputes and practical completion issues
  • Advising project stakeholders during live project delivery
  • Supporting negotiations with principals and project managers in high-pressure commercial environments
Requirements for the position:
  • 2-4 years PQE in construction, infrastructure or commercial law
  • Private practice background
  • Demonstrated experience advising on building and construction contracts
  • Head contractor, subcontractor or developer-side experience
  • Exposure to security of payment, contract variations, delay claims or defect disputes preferred
  • Strong technical drafting and written advisory skills
  • Commercially minded and able to give practical, actionable advice
  • Resilient, organised and comfortable managing multiple active matters
  • Queensland admission or eligibility for interstate admission
