The Role

A boutique national family law practice is opening a new private office in Sydney's Circular Quay precinct and is looking for a lawyer who can bring an existing client base to anchor the growth. This is a rare chance to run your own practice within an established platform rather than build one from nothing, with full support from the Special Counsel already leading the Sydney family law team.

You'll need an existing book of work, in the order of five to ten active clients or $400,000 to $500,000 in annual fees, that can transfer with you. In return you get autonomy over how you run your matters, backed by a firm with decades of family law experience across Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast.

About the Firm

An established Australian family and commercial law practice with offices across Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast, plus an international presence, specialising in separation and divorce, property and asset settlements, parenting matters, family violence and Children's Court work. The firm has built its Sydney presence around a Special Counsel-led family law team and is now investing in new premises and headcount to match demand.

Key Responsibilities

• Running your own portable client base from day one, full carriage of matters
• Property and asset settlements, parenting and children's matters, family violence and protection order work
• Representing clients through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and court proceedings including Children's Court
• Building the Sydney family law offering alongside the Special Counsel leading the practice
• Business development to grow the practice beyond the initial client base

About You

• Admitted to practise in Australia, with a genuine, transferable family law client base
• 5-10 active clients or $400,000-$500,000 in annual billings you can bring across
• Strong track record in property settlements, parenting matters and family dispute resolution
• Comfortable operating with autonomy, building a practice rather than just servicing one
• Based in or willing to relocate to Sydney
