Job Description

Employment Lawyer / Workplace Investigator | 2–8+ years PAE | Sydney. This is a standout opportunity for an employment lawyer who wants specialist work, flexible options, strong senior support and a role with genuine room to grow.

You will join a focused employment law and workplace investigations practice where the work is varied, current and genuinely useful to clients managing complex people issues.
  • $120,000–$160,000 package, depending on experience

About the role

The role sits within a growing Sydney team and is open to lawyers from Associate level through to Special Counsel level, with responsibilities shaped around your seniority.
  • Advise employers on employment and industrial relations matters
  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies and related workplace documents
  • Provide payroll and compliance advice
  • Support disputes and litigation in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Court and other courts and tribunals
  • Conduct workplace investigations across a broad range of sectors
  • Manage witness interviews with professionalism and sensitivity
  • Draft correspondence, reports, legal documents and client updates
  • Help manage deadlines, scope, cost expectations and client timeframes
  • For senior candidates, take carriage of matters, mentor junior lawyers and help develop key client relationships
Requirements:
  • Current practising certificate
  • 2+ years PAE through to Special Counsel level
  • Recent private practice or relevant public sector legal experience preferred
  • Strong legal research, analytical and drafting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied workload
  • Strong client service skills
  • Confidence identifying legal risks
  • Ability to handle sensitive workplace issues and difficult conversations
  • Strong interpersonal skills for workplace investigation interviews
  • Good technology skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
