Our client is a well-regarded specialist law firm based in Sydney CBD, established over 40 years ago and operating nationally across four offices. The firm is recognised as a market leader in dispute resolution and insolvency litigation throughout Australia, acting for government, enterprise, and institutional clients on matters ranging from complex multi-million dollar commercial disputes through to ASIC investigations, director examinations, bankruptcy proceedings, and international judgment enforcement.

This is not a generalist practice. Commercial litigation and insolvency is the firm’s core identity. The team handles matters across the Local, District, Supreme and Federal Courts, and has built a strong reputation on the quality of its advocacy and the results it delivers for clients. With approximately 35 lawyers and staff nationally, the firm offers genuine exposure, direct partner contact, and the kind of matter complexity that would take years to access at a larger firm.


On Offer

• Salary in the range of $110,000 to $160,000 depending on PAE and experience - Can be negotiated

The Position

Our client is seeking a Commercial Litigation Lawyer to join the Sydney team. The successful candidate will be involved in:

• Running commercial litigation matters with a strong focus on insolvency and corporate restructuring
• Advising on and conducting bankruptcy and company liquidation proceedings
• Managing director recovery and breach of duty claims
• Handling examinations of directors and bankrupts, and ASIC investigations
• Drafting pleadings, affidavits, and written submissions across court jurisdictions
• Asset preservation orders, judgment enforcement, and debt recovery actions
• Supporting senior lawyers on complex, multi-million dollar disputes
• Court appearances and client contact from an early stage

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years PAE in commercial litigation (Australian firm)
• Admitted to practise in NSW
• Experience in, or a strong interest in, insolvency and restructuring matters
• Sound drafting ability and attention to detail
• Strong advocacy instincts and the ability to handle a busy files load independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
