Job Description

About the Opportunity

At this Premium Australian National Law Firm, build trusted client relationships. Work on sophisticated matters. Be valued for your judgement.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Lawyer (4-6 years PAE) to join a highly regarded Australian law firm known for delivering premium outcomes through a relationship-driven and strategic approach.
The firm advises entrepreneurial private businesses, ASX-listed companies, high-net-worth clients and international organisations on complex, high-value commercial matters. It is recognised for its ability to combine technical excellence with practical, commercial advice — delivered by small, high-performing teams who genuinely know their clients.

Why Join This Firm?
  • Exposure to premium matters and sophisticated clients
  • Meaningful responsibility and early client access
  • Mentoring and development within a small, high-performing team
  • A relationship-led culture focused on long-term client partnerships
  • The opportunity to work on high-impact transactions and complex advisory matters, rather than volume-driven work

 The Role

You will join a close-knit commercial practice working on high-stakes transactions and complex advisory work, with direct access to senior lawyers and clients.
This role suits a lawyer who enjoys taking ownership of matters, thinking strategically, and building long-term client relationships while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on a broad range of commercial transactions, including M&A, restructures, joint ventures and complex commercial arrangements
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements
  • Providing clear, strategic advice on commercial risk and structuring
  • Managing matters with appropriate autonomy, while collaborating closely with partners and peers
  • Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers as required
  • Building and maintaining strong, trusted client relationships

 About You

You are likely to bring many of the following qualities:
  • 4-6 years' PAE in commercial law, ideally within a reputable private practice
  • Strong technical drafting and negotiation capability
  • Sound commercial judgement and a strategic, solutions-focused mindset
  • Confidence managing matters and engaging directly with clients
  • Clear, professional communication and a collaborative working style
  • High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
  • Demonstrated drive, accountability and integrity

A Note on Applications

If you don't meet every requirement but can demonstrate strong transferable skills, sound judgement and genuine potential, we encourage you to apply.
The firm is also open to confidential conversations with high-quality commercial lawyers exploring their next move, including those who may be better suited to other similar opportunities now or in the future.
