Run quality disputes with sharp mentoring, structured case management and a modern litigation platform in the CBD. $100,000 - $140,000 + super
The Opportunity Join a boutique litigation firm in Melbourne CBD that is expanding and seeking a Commercial Litigation Lawyer (3–4 PAE) to join a disputes team running complex, strategic matters with a modern approach to case management.
This is a role for someone who wants real responsibility, strong mentorship, and the chance to sharpen court craft while still keeping outcomes commercially grounded.
Why You’ll Enjoy Working Here You’ll work in a firm that takes pride in doing litigation “smarter” by using contemporary systems and disciplined planning to keep matters moving and clients properly informed.
The culture is professional, focused and supportive: high standards, clear expectations, and people who back each other when deadlines and court timetables tighten.
You'll start your day with a clear matter plan and a tidy evidence set — not a messy inbox. You’re drafting a crisp affidavit, refining submissions, and speaking with a client who understands the strategy and risks because communication is structured. Later, you’re preparing for mediation with a senior lawyer who will workshop the approach with you — not just delegate and disappear.
What You’ll Get - $100,000 - $140,000 salary package + super
- High-quality litigation exposure with mentoring from experienced dispute practitioners
- Modern practice systems and workflows to support efficient case preparation and evidence management
The Work The disputes practice includes commercial litigation and broader civil dispute work, with exposure that may include:
- Commercial disputes (multi-party and/or high-stakes)
- Court and tribunal work, mediations and negotiated resolution
- Broad range of dispute streams
Your Day-to-Day - Drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions and correspondence
- Managing litigation timetables, interlocutory steps and court deadlines
- Working with counsel (briefing, evidence coordination, hearing preparation)
- Preparing clear client advice on options, risks, costs and commercial outcomes
- Participating in dispute strategy and settlement negotiations
What We’re Looking For (3–4 PAE) - 3–4 years’ post-admission experience in litigation/dispute resolution
- Strong written advocacy and attention to detail
- Confident, steady client manner and professional communication with counterparties
- Organised file management and comfort working to deadlines
- A practical mindset — you enjoy strategy, but you keep outcomes and proportionality front of mind
