Job Description

Solicitor | Family Law | 3+ years PAE

Picture a working week where you're trusted to run your own family law matters, but you're not doing it in a vacuum. Most days you're set up at home with a proper workflow and uninterrupted focus time; on office days (typically 1-2 a week), you're in for the good stuff—team catch-ups, strategy sessions, a coffee or lunch, and the kind of collaboration that makes tricky files feel lighter.
You'll have a steady pipeline of quality family law work, direct client relationships, and the autonomy to shape how you run your day—balanced with senior support that's genuinely there when you want it, not hovering over your shoulder. It's the mix of high standards and a human, upbeat boutique culture: professional when it counts, genuinely enjoyable in between, and built for lawyers who want strong work and a life that still has room for... life.

Why you'll love it here / Salary Range & Features of the position

You'll be joining a growing boutique legal group focused on high-quality, strategic family law delivered with professionalism and discretion. What you can expect:
  • Predominantly work from home with office attendance approx. 1-2 days per week (subject to business needs)
  • Genuine autonomy: run your own matters end-to-end, with accountability and trust
  • Direct client contact as standard—build relationships and lead communications
  • Strong pipeline of quality family law work (not a volume model)
  • Supportive senior mentoring without micromanagement
  • Career progression as the group continues to expand
  • Flexibility: may suit Melbourne-based candidates seeking hybrid work, Peninsula-based lawyers, and lawyers returning from parental leave; part-time discussion may be available for the right applicant
  • Salary $100,000 - $130,000 + super (commensurate with experience); exceptional candidates may be considered outside this range

About the role / What you'll be doing

In this Family Law Solicitor role, you will:
  • Manage files across parenting matters, property settlements, spousal maintenance, divorce, consent orders, and binding financial agreements
  • Prepare and review court and negotiation documents with strong drafting standards
  • Conduct client conferences and maintain clear, calm communication throughout matters
  • Progress litigation in the Federal Circuit and Family Court, including attending court when required
  • Work largely in a self-managed day-to-day structure, while collaborating with the team when needed

Your background / What you'll bring / Key requirements
  • 3+ years PAE primarily practising in Family Law
  • Current Australian Practising Certificate
  • Strong drafting, file management and organisational skills
  • Confidence in court work and in running files independently
  • A professional, client-focused approach (calm, discreet, solutions-oriented)
  • LEAP experience highly regarded
