Job Description

Our client, a well-regarded insurance and personal services law firm with offices in Sydney and Newcastle, is looking for an Associate to join its Dust Diseases team. You will act for government agencies, insurers and large employers on complex defendant matters, in a firm known for a positive, down-to-earth culture and sensible expectations around hours.

About the role
  
You will manage your own portfolio of dust diseases, personal injury and workers compensation matters, with support from experienced senior lawyers.
  • Act on asbestos and other dust-related claims for government agencies, insurers and large employers
  • Critically review medico-legal and factual evidence
  • Draft advice, correspondence and court documents within tight timeframes
  • Prepare matters for mediation and hearing with a practical, cost-effective focus
  • Build strong relationships with government and insurer clients
What you'll bring
  • 2-5 years PAE in litigation, ideally defendant personal injury, workers compensation or dust diseases
  • Current NSW practising certificate
  • Strong analytical, drafting and written communication skills
  • Good organisation and time management, with the ability to work independently
  • A confident communicator who builds rapport with clients, insurers and peers
