Job Description

Join a leading national law firm’s Employment team in Sydney, advising major corporate and government clients across the full spectrum of employment and industrial relations law. This is a rare opportunity for a Senior Associate to step into a broad, complex practice with career development, strong Partner support, and the resources of a modern, progressive firm.

Salary and Features of the Position
  • Salary range: $160,000 – $190,000 + super (depending on experience)

About the Position

Our client is seeking a Senior Associate with 4–7 years PAE to join their Sydney Employment practice. The team advises a wide range of Australian and international employers on both contentious and non-contentious workplace matters, including employment contracts, enterprise bargaining, workplace investigations, industrial relations, discrimination, work health and safety, and unfair dismissal litigation.

This position will allow you to step into significant client work while maintaining close Partner mentorship. You will manage complex employment disputes, provide strategic advice on workplace issues, and appear in litigation when required. The team’s reputation and growing pipeline of work make this an ideal opportunity for an ambitious lawyer seeking career progression within a supportive national environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal support on a wide range of employment and workplace relations matters
  • Draft and advise on contracts, policies, and compliance issues
  • Manage litigation files including unfair dismissal, discrimination, and restraint of trade claims
  • Advise employers on enterprise agreements, workplace change, and employee relations strategies
  • Liaise with clients and regulatory bodies with confidence and commercial focus
  • Work collaboratively as part of a talented national team on large and complex disputes
Key Requirements
  • 5–7 years PAE + in employment and industrial relations law
  • Experience gained at a national, international, or specialist employment practice
  • Strong drafting, advisory and litigation skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering commercial solutions
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset and ability to work with autonomy
